Live in a Fairytale
Who doesn’t want to live like a prince or princess? Getting everything you’ve ever wanted sounds perfect! A big beautiful house is definitely part of the package. Uhh...sorry that life only exists in fairytales.
Not anymore! Stone fairytale houses do exist and one is for sale in Bay Ridge. This one in particular has been nicknamed the Gingerbread House. It consists of 2 floors and a basement, with 6 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The Gingerbread House was designed by James Sarsfield Kennedy in 1916 for shipping tycoon Howard E. Jones. After Jones, three more families have lived here. The current owner is trying to sell the house. It was put on the market in 2009 for $12 million, lowered to $11 million in 2013, dropped more to $10.5 million in 2014. After 5 years on the market, the Gingerbread House is still waiting for a new owner. The current owners tried renting this for $26,000/month with no success. Recently the sale price has been raised back up to $11 million.

Isn’t it beautiful? There are classic details in every inch of this house, yet no one wants it. The neighborhood is comfortable to live in too. This raises the question of why does the current owner want to sell it? They probably aren’t desperate for money since they let the house stay on the market for 6 years. OK fine it is a bit expensive.
